Labrador Studios is a new indie game development studio located in York, England. Labrador is committed to developing and creating games that put gameplay first.

Our motto is “If the player isn’t happy, we aren’t happy”.

Matthew Hamilton

Game Director and Designer

Matthew is the Game Director and designer for LBTS. Before co-founding the studio Matthew served in the American Air Force as an A-10 crew chief.

Paul Jervis

Technical Director

Paul is the Technical Director. Having run his own bespoke software company for years he prides himself on well written code.

Michael Knight


Michael Knight is a developer on Live by the Sword. Having previously worked on a VR chess game for the Hololens.

Ellis Spice


Ellis Spice is a developer on Live by the Sword. Previous work includes Grow in the Hole and Shoot-a Story.

Luke Sanderson


Luke is our tester. Rigorously playing the game every day and assisting in finding and writing bug reports and automated tests.

Jack Thompson


Our primary Artist working on concept art for future releases as well as marketing materials and whatever in game thing we need.

Erica Porter

Lead Composer

Erica Porter is a fellow American as well as a PHD student. Using her composition knowledge she is creating the music of the game.

Lizzie Vialls

Lead AI Developer

Lizzie Vials is a PHD student from the University of York applying her skills to creating the games AI.

Jon Davies

Lead Artist

Jon Davies is the Lead Artist on Live by the Sword. Bringing his passion for games and his industry experience he has developed a perfect look for the game.

Hollie Emery

Production Consultant

Hollie is a games industry veteran having previously worked at Team17 producing titles such as Overcooked and Yoku's Island Express. She now has her own studio and game consultancy businesses and offers her wisdom through consultancy.
